This is a nice example of a popular vintage Topps baseball issue from the Golden Decade of the 1950s, a 1958 complete set in a condition range perhaps a bit wider than typically encountered in mature collections, basically Fair to Ex-Mt, with some above and below and the emphasis clearly too Good to Very Good. Overall, it comes out to nine percent Ex-Mt, eight percent Excellent, 21 percent Very Good, 45 percent Good and 16 percent Fair. Two key cards have been third-party slabbed and graded: No. 47 Maris Rookie – PSA 3 and No. 150 Mantle – PSA 4. The issue boasts background panels of blazing colors that mark it as one of the unique design efforts in a decade noted for its iconic presentations. The card stock in 1958 was thought to be a bit softer than in surrounding years, making condition – even in collector grades – a particularly vital element.
