This is a fascinating array of pristine cards from 1972 Topps Hockey, a spectacular grouping with Hall of Famers and Specials perhaps a whisper below the broader group, which includes some goofy card totals for more than a half dozen players numbering even into the hundreds. Obviously, the hoard features enormous duplication, even touching some Hall of Famers and Specials; as noted, the condition is essentially Near-Mint to Mint, with a few below, and a pronounced vending bend that bespeaks of uncirculated cardboard. Here’s the breakdown of some keys and cards with larger totals: No. 1 Bruins Team (8 – most are Ex-Mt to Near-Mint), Assist Leaders (Orr – 2, Ex-Mt and Nr-Mt), Scoring Leaders (3), Dionne (8), Hull All-Star (2), Orr All-Star, Dryden All-Star, Mikita, Lafleur (2), Clarke, Ratelle, Giacomin (21), Gilbert (9), Ullman (100), Trophies (two dozen, including Smythe 15 and Calder 2), Kurtenbach (250), Mikkelson (250), Backstrom (225), Hicke (200), Harper (200), Marcotte (175) and Watson (125).
