Offered is an important empty case from 1970 Topps Baseball Supers, one of the most attractive of the Topps peripheral issues the company offered in the 1960s and 1970s. The elegant, oversized cards were produced on a remarkably thick and sturdy card stock, providing a stunning showcase for the 3 1/8-by-5 ¼ inches cards that put full-bleed photography and rounded corners to superb effect. The box presents in a solid Very Good condition, jostled only by some small tears at one of the flaps. The case, which at one time held 24 boxes of three-card packs with bubble gum, 24 packs per box, with some of the expected in-house pen or pencil markings; the fabled Topps mailing label addressing the case to the legendary Larry Fritsch in Stevens Point, Wis., is no longer present, but ample evidence of the Fritsch connection remains.
