This is an impressive array of vintage bobbin head dolls, including three figures from the Rams in the 1960s and 1970s, two Steelers figures and two Bengals. We'll start with an attractive pair of the popular Los Angeles Rams Bobbin Head Dolls from the 6 ½-inch Square Base Series from 1961 and the seven-inch, Gold Base Series from 1968, striking figures that present in Ex-Mt (1961) and VG-Ex fashion, with vivid colors and excellent gloss. The 1961 piece is virtually free of the dreaded chipping, with the sole exception of minor nicks to the blue base. There is some chipping to the bottom of the face piece on the 1968 doll, slight nicks on the helmet and one toe and a small nick to the “Los Angeles” decal on the Gold Base. The delicate metal faceguard is present and intact. The eight-inch original box is Ex-Mt condition. The third Rams piece is from 1975 from the seven-inch, Gold Base Series, a striking plastic figure that presents in Near-Mint fashion and includes the official NFL box, with virtually none of the dreaded paint chipping that so commonly afflicts these dolls; there is just the slightest buckling of the LA Rams Decal on the base. The eight-inch Official NFL Box is Ex-Mt-Plus, with a small piece of tape present. A pair of Bengals figures includes an attractive example of the colorful 1968 Bengals Bobbin Head from the 7 ½-inch, Gold Base Series, a striking figure that presents in Ex-Mt fashion, with a solitary chip to the black collar on the jersey and some of the not uncommon nicks to the bottom of the face piece; the bright orange helmet is sensational, with “Bengals” decals on each side simply superb. The delicate metal faceguard is present and intact. The eight-inch original box is in Very Good condition, with just a bit of fraying of the cardboard edges. The second Bengals figure is a damaged example also from the 7 ½-inch Gold Base Series that boasts a nice paint scheme and excellent gloss but suffers from significant damage to the face, including serious cracking and some chipping, which could be repaired to a tolerable condition with some careful and extensive gluing. All pieces seem to be present for such an undertaking; the rest of the figure is largely as issued, with only a bit of paint loss from the gold base. The final two figures is a pair of the 1970s Steelers Bobbin Head Dolls, the 7 ½-inch plastic figures with Gold Base. The figures boast an attractive paint scheme virtually devoid of any of the dreaded chipping that so typically confronts this issue. The colors are vivid and the gloss is excellent; in an otherwise problem-free figure, there is some minor loss to the famed Steelers logo decal on the right side of the helmet of one Ex-Mt figure and a small section missing from the bottom of the head portion of a Fair figure.
