This is an important array of the famed Street & Smith’s Baseball Yearbook, a trio of the first three issues of the magazine that covers the historic war years of 1941-43 when Major League Baseball’s ranks were dramatically depleted with many of the greatest stars serving in the military. With so many players yanked from rosters, the “war years” provided a unique opportunity for literally hundreds of players who might otherwise have not reached The Big Show. The annual Street & Smith’s Yearbooks were an iconic resource for serious fans for nearly seven decades, securing a legendary prominence for collectors and historians alike. At 100 pages, the 8 ½-by-11 ½-inch magazines featured spectacular black-and-white photography inside and spot red color on the front and back covers. The inaugural issue with Hall of Famer Bob Feller on the cover is found here in Good condition; the 1942 issue features Cardinals southpaw Howie Pollet (Very Good) and the 1943 issue is also in Good condition.
