Here are 10 of the personal MLB contracts from one of the top third basemen in the National League, Jim Davenport, who spent 13 seasons in San Francisco in his playing career and then several more as manager and coach. The 10 contracts include 10 autographs from Davenport and three from the legendary Topps Vice President Sy Berger, along with a number of other company officials. Most of the documents are around 8 ½-by-11 inches, with some outliers noted, and are Excellent to Ex-Mt, with some exceptions noted below. The majority have some red and blue spot color, and five have a colorful Bazooka Bubble Gum graphic at the top. Here’s the breakdown (10); 1) March 1958, First contract, 8 ½-by-14 inches – Good; 2) 1958 two-page Fleer contract, 8 ½-by-14 inches; 3) June 1958, Topps Extension Contract; 4) 1960 Topps Extension, with Berger autograph – Very Good; 5) 1961 Topps Extension; 6) 1963 Topps Extension, with Berger autograph; 7) 1966 Topps Extension, with Berger autograph; 8) 1969 Topps Extension – Near-Mint; 9) 1975 Topps Extension as Padres third base coach, two pages (one is 8 ½-by-14 inches); and 10) 1976 Contract, 8 ½-by-14 inches – Good. Davenport played for the Giants from 1958-70, batting .258 with 77 home runs and 456 RBI. He was a two-time All-Star, earning the nod in 1962, his finest season, when MLB played two All-Star Games under the discredited notion that if one of something is good, two is even better.
