This is the only recognized rookie card featuring “The Say Hey Kid.” Willie Mays was, perhaps, the greatest all-around player the game has ever seen. He could match Mickey Mantle and Hank Aaron in power, field and throw like Roberto Clemente and run like Lou Brock. After being named NL Rookie of the Year in 1951, Mays would reach great heights as he became the first player to reach 500 home runs and 3,000 hits. Mays also made 24 All-Star Game appearances, a record that still stands today. Mays, a two-time NL MVP, was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1979. This card, along with the Mantle rookie, is one of two major keys to the set and is arguably tougher than The Mick’s rookie in high-grade. This is card No. 305 in the set and arrives in a PSA 4 holder with near perfect centering, a clean surface and only light corner wear, but we're guessing was downgraded to VG/EX for the stain on the back.
