Offered are two complete sets of the unique 3D Kellogg’s baseball issues from the mid-1970’s, found here in what must be the exact same condition as when they rolled off the presses 50 years ago. Easily the quirkiest and one of the more condition-sensitive issues from the period, the 2 1/8-by-3 ¼-inch “cards” were printed in an usual fashion that included a special layering process that yielded the 3D effect. The two offered sets (57 cards each) are virtually the same in terms of condition, but the 1975 set has the notable “curl” that announces the cards have had no handling of any consequence. The lineup includes the likes of Nolan Ryan, Pete Rose, Johnny Bench, Mike Schmidt, Reggie Jackson, Carl Yastrzemski, Tom Seaver, Lou Brock and Rod Carew, plus numerous stars, minor stars and All-Stars. For decades in the hobby, the Kellogg’s cards have been a popular non-Topps alternative, and this lot tackles two of the coveted sets in an almost unimprovable condition.
