Presented is a massive group of eight complete sets of the 1982 Topps Baseball issue, the company’s second effort as the dawn of the modern baseball card business arrived with two new competitors heralding the beginning of remarkable expansion. This huge group is pretty uniformly Near-Mint to Near-Mint to better, with a few Near-Mint and boasting exceptional color and gloss and super-clean card backs; with no competitors in the arena, Topps seemed to up its game in 1982 and beyond with seemingly sharper photography and more vivid and crisp colors. A single example of the key No. 21 Cal Ripken Rookie has been slabbed graded PSA 9. There is no discernible difference between the Tier One Hall of Famers and the rest of the gang; there are the occasional off-center cards that would typically be encountered in issues yielded in total or in part from vending. Several of the sets in the array display the iconic “vending bend” that so eloquently announces that these are uncirculated cards. The 1982 Topps issue (792) presents in a stunning, uniform and consistent fashion, a consistency that extends to each of the eight offered sets.
