Presented is a truly extraordinary aggregation of the popular Hartland Baseball Statues produced from 1960-63 by legendary manufacturer Hartland Plastics in Wisconsin. Finding 16 of the 18 statues in the set is impressive enough, but finding them in this remarkable, mostly Near-Mint condition, is unbelievable. The 8 ½-inch figures are one of the most coveted non-card vintage collectibles, a series of hand-painted figures depicting 17 current major league stars plus Ruth. This array includes every statue except the difficult Groat and Colavito figures, which are offered individually in this auction. All of the figures balance adequately to stand without assistance; all of the necessary equipment like bats, toe plates and the facemask are present. The default condition for the group is essentially Near-Mint, with some outliers and exceptions noted in the listing. Here’s the breakdown: 1) Henry Aaron – Ex-Mt-Plus, with some light toning and a tiny nick to the brim of his cap; 2) Luis Aparicio – light toning; 3) Ernie Banks – Ex-Mt, with small gap at his leg seam and light toning; 4) Yogi Berra – with mask, light toning; 5) Don Drysdale – with the toeplate, light toning; 6) Nellie Fox – light toning; 7) Harmon Killebrew – home plate a bit wavy but stands okay, light toning; 8) Mickey Mantle – light toning, tiny nicks to paint on cap; 9) Roger Maris – nice home plate, with light toning; 10) Eddie Mathews – light toning, includes the rare Hartland Tag, which has some tape residue on its reverse; 11) Willie Mays – light toning; 12) Stan Musial – light toning; 13) Babe Ruth – light toning; 14) Duke Snider – light toning; 15) Warren Spahn – light toning, with some fading of the “Braves” on his shirt and piping; and 16) and Ted Williams – light toning and bit of a wavy toeplate (stands okay). That’s a lineup that’s hard to beat, in an overall condition that’s unlikely to turn up again in a very long time.
