Presented is a nice example of a unique turn-of-the-century artifact, the 1906 Sporting Life Team Composite Postcards, in this instance a Fair condition specimen of the St. Louis Cardinals. The huge 13-by-14-inch piece pictures 17 players from the Cardinals team in an ornate design surrounding the club’s manager and president. Headlined by Hall of Fame first sacker Jake Beckley, the team members are printed in an elegant brown sepia tone, with a postcard configuration on the back. The piece presents decently even in the face of a technical Fair designation.
