Offered are three intriguing early 1960s Topps baseball proof sheets, clearly owing their origins to the fabled Topps archives, with two elements linked to Topps’ classic 1962 Baseball set and the third showcasing the iconic Bazooka Gum trademarked imagery so recognizable to several generations of youngsters. Both of the 21-by-28-inch blank-backed proof sheets have only the blue and yellow ink applications, with no magenta or black ink. The sheets depict eight 1962 Topps cards, headlined by the No. 235 White Ford World Series Subset card, the images used for 1962 Topps cards without any card design elements in a surface area of 12 ½-by-14 ½ inches, an array that includes the likes of Hall of Famers Sandy Koufax, Eddie Mathews and Enos Slaughter, along with Don Zimmer, Bob Purkey, Walt Dropo, Lee Thomas, Ron Hansen, Billy Pierce and Vada Pinson. The final element depicts the iconic Bazooka Gum packaging at 5-by-4 ½ inches each. The sheets have been carefully affixed to a cardboard backing making for an outstanding presentation, nudged only by some minor wear effects touching the images sheet and three players: Nichols, Zimmer and Thomas. All of the sheets have the expected proof sheet markups with printing and editing graphics and notations.
