Presented is a truly eclectic group of 1980s uncut sheets from a wide range of peripheral baseball issues, a group loaded with Hall of Famers and stars and a tribute to the creativity of various food issues and one legendary hobby pioneer in particular. That last reference is a nod to Mike Cramer, a hobby figure of historic proportions, with credentials as an epic collector, dealer, card producer, promoter and a whole lot more. Cramer’s popular Baseball Legends Series One and Two from 1980-81 headline this charming array, a quaint multi-series undertaking that focused on virtually all of the legendary Hall of Famers from different eras with regular-sized cards with brown sepia tone images. Cramer would ultimately secure the traditional MLB and Players’ Association licensing and a few years later start producing mainstream card sets under the Pacific banner. Here’s the breakdown: 1) 1980-81 Cramer Baseball Legends Series One and Two – two 12 ¾-by-21 ½-inch uncut sheets featuring 30 cards each, comprising complete sets of the two Series, present Near-Excellent but have some minor creasing. As noted, the sheets include virtually all of the initial early Hall of Fame royalty and then some, with a lineup that includes Ruth, Cobb, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Walter Johnson, Paige, Mathewson, Aaron, Mantle, Mays, Clemente, Koufax, Musial et. al. The ever-impish and whimsical Cramer also had a bit of fun with Series One, detouring just a tad from his Tier-One Hall of Fame theme to include Lefty O'Doul, Fred Hutchinson and “The Rifleman” Chuck Connor on his checklist, the only non-HOF folks in the group. There are some extraneous pen notations on the sheet, including an edition size of 11/100 and an autograph from the maestro himself at the bottom.; 2) 1983 Uncut Sheet of 7-11 Slurpee Coins dramatically showcased at 15-by-20 ½ inches, the charming “Wiggle Pictures” that featured the Dodgers and Angels in the 3D style 2-inch in diameter coins. The regional food issue sheet (72) is in Near-Mint condition, virtually problem fee, with six complete sets of 12 players. The roster: Reggie Jackson, Carew, Valenzuela, Baker, Guerrero, Monday, John, Sax, Lynn, Greg Brock, Grich and DeCinces.; 3) 1970s Go Dodger Blue uncut sheet, Near-Mint, featuring 15 different Dodgers, including Lasorda, Baker, Sutton, Garvey, Lopes, Yeager, Cey, Russell and Smith.; and 4) 1983 Fritsch Visalia Oaks Minor League Uncut Sheet (25), 12 ¾-by-20 inches and featuring Hall of Famer Kirby Puckett – sheet presents in outstanding fashion but has some creasing in the upper-right corner that would insist on a Very Good designation.
