This is a nice run of Topps sets from the late 1970’s to early 1980’s, a nice consistent array of important Topps issues in a highly collectible grade. The cards show good colors and photo focus and registration, nice gloss and a clean, problem-free presentation front and back. Like most such runs, the sets tend to improve slightly with each advancing year; in most instances the condition of the Hall of Famers and stars tends to conform to the overall grade range, with some of the exceptions noted below.
The breakdown: 1978 Topps Baseball (726) – Basically an Excellent to Nr-Mt offering, with the emphasis probably to Ex-Mt, with the following keys - 36 Murray – Ex, 100 Brett – Nr-Mt, 200 Jackson – Ex-Mt, 300 Morgan – Nr-Mt, 360 Schmidt – Ex-Mt, 400 Ryan – Nr-Mt, 530 Winfield – Nr-Mt and 700 Bench – Nr-Mt; 1979 Topps Baseball (726) – A solid and consistent Ex-Mt to Nr-Mt set, with the emphasis to the upper end of the scale and evidence of the “vending bend”; 1981 Topps Baseball (792) – A nice consistent Ex-Mt to Nr-Mt set, with a few below and the emphasis probably to Ex-Mt; 1982 Topps Baseball (792) – a uniform and consistent Nr-Mt set, with a handful of cards below.
