Here are two pieces that personify the notion of a collector’s item: the first two issue of Sports Illustrated magazine, both in spectacular condition, and both including the unique 1954 Topps Baseball Cards center pullout. The inaugural issue of Sports Illustrated, 8 ¼-by-11 ½ inches, is one of the most coveted and collectible of all sports magazines, a lofty title further enhanced by the inclusion of the 27-card, 3-page full-color pullout of 1954 Topps cards. Magazine and cards pullout are blazing Near-Mint; the original mailing envelope is also included (Fair) along with a 13 ¾-by-15 ¼-inch certificate for inaugural issue subscribers (Near-Mint). The second issue, dated August 23, 1954, is in Excellent condition; the 27-card, 3-page pullout of New York Yankees Topps cards – including 12 cards that were never actually issued by Topps that year – is in Near-Mint condition.
