This is a sparkling artifact from the short-lived and long-defunct Women’s Basketball League, which lasted three years from 1978-81 before financial woes rendered it asunder. That makes this Ladies Size M jacket particularly intriguing as a memorabilia treasure from nearly 40 years ago. The blue-knit warm-up jacket has the embroidered WBL patch on the front right and Minnesota screen printed in yellow-gold in vertical fashion on the left. The elastic on the collar has pink, yellow-gold and blue stripes, while the sleeves have alternating white, blue and yellow-gold stripes, with the same scheme for the bottom of the tail. Intricate screen printing of fillies both graphically (white) and in yellow-gold letters adorns the back, directly beneath a Velcro enhanced nameplate across the shoulders. A pair of Sand-knit manufacturer’s tags appear on the inside of the button path, along with a flag tag of “Ladies M” attached below one and a pink team tag with “2” just a couple of inches adjacent. All elements appear to be in superb condition, including the six metal snaps down the front of the jacket.
