“The Sultan of Swat” is arguably the greatest baseball player of all time and his collectibles are easily the most sough-after in the hobby. Ruth was one of five original Hall of Fame inductees, with 714 career home runs, 2,217 runs batted in, a career slugging percentage of .690 and 2,870 career hits. This stunning 11x14 captures Babe Ruth with his second wife, Claire, parked outside Yankee Stadium in a shiny, new Packard, which was known to be Ruth’s car of choice. In the background, fans are huddled and probably waiting for autographs from the ever-gracious star. The photo is signed across the bottom and inscribed, “To My Pal, Geo. W Browers, “Babe” Ruth” in steel tip pen. The photo has various scratches and creases throughout, with several small tears along the border, but it is believed to be a unique photo and hours of browsing Ruth photos has turned up nothing to dispel that belief. The inscription is a little light and along the shadow of the car, while Ruth’s signature stands out nicely. The signature is authenitcated by PSA/DNA and arrives with a full letter of authenticity.
