Presented is one of the true card classics from the fabled career of Ty Cobb, arguably the greatest player in the game for the first two decades of the 20th Century. The card is Cobb’s 1914 Cracker Jack, No. 30, and offered here in a PSA 2 holder. With the vivid red background neatly showcasing Cobb’s iconic batting pose with hands separated, the card is stunning in its presentation and boasts sharp corners seemingly better than the PSA 2 grade might dictate. As advanced collectors are aware, finding high-grade Cracker Jacks from 1914 is more difficult than in the second year because 1914’s were only offered in Cracker Jack packages and not made available to collectors via the mail as was the case the next year. The card front is simply spectacular, and a wonderful example of one of the true must-have issues from the 12-time batting champion and member of the initial class of Hall of Famers. There is slight staining on the front lower left side that hardly detracts from the presentation; the card back is no less impressive, with crisp, easily readable typeface and light staining upper-left and lower-right that barely intrudes into the text. Ultimately, an extraordinary opportunity to pick up a key card from the canon of legendary Ty Cobb collectibles and in a superior condition for a condition-sensitive candy issue from more than a century ago.
