With this one you're back at Woolworth’s 65 years ago and gazing upon the charming Hartland Baseball Statues on the shelf, in this instance an original Ernie Banks figure in the box and including the quaint circular red tag. The seven-inch statue is in outstanding condition, boasting superb colors and gloss and an excellent overall painting effort. The bat is not original; the figure balances nicely. Hartland Baseball figures have long been a popular collectible, a notion enhanced here with the inclusion of the original 8-by-5-by-3-inch box, which presents in an attractive fashion but has some small tears to the delicate flaps on the top, including one flap that is present but detached. Another enhancement is the original red tag, which seemingly presents as Near-Mint but has a crease that is visible only upon careful examination. For fans of the affable “Let’s Play Two” Hall of Famer, the lot presents a great opportunity to pick up one of the classic Banks items from the absolute pinnacle of his fabled tenure in the Windy City.
