Presented is the popular 1964 Wheaties Major League All-Star Baseball Player Stamp Album with the complete roster of 50 unperforated Stamps, all presented here in what is presumably as-issued Near-Mint or better condition. We say presumably advisedly, since the offered lot represents the collectible in its most coveted form: the Album and Stamps in the original mailing envelope, unsealed and seemingly untouched in the ensuing six decades. The 2 ½-by-2 ¼-inch stamps were issued in six sheets totaling 50 players. The 8 ½-by-11-inch Major League All-Star Baseball Player Stamp Album was issued by General Mills and promoted through advertisements on the backs of Wheaties Cereal boxes. In addition to biographical and statistical information about each of the players, the album contains information on all stadiums in the league as well as detailed origins about the Major League All-Star Game. The original Wheaties mailing envelope presents in essentially Very Good to Excellent, revealing only the kind of nominal wear to the edges that you might expect in an artifact more than 60 years old. The addressee is Jeff Fritsch of the famed Larry Fritsch Cards Co. in Stevens Point, Wis. Veteran collectors will recognize dozens of iconic images – including many Tier One Hall of Famers like Henry Aaron and Roberto Clemente – in outstanding color photography from the Topps Co., with many of the images having appeared on some of the classic Topps cards of the period, most typically from the classic 1963 Topps issue. The lot presents a fantastic opportunity to acquire this set in its most pristine and likely unimprovable form.
