This striking 22-inch high trophy was awarded to Mickey Lolich by the Chicago baseball writers following his historic effort in the 1968 World Series when he won three games and walked away with the MVP Trophy. This trophy was part of the avalanche of hardware that the lefthander received in the days following his World Series tour de force. The trophy has image of the genial Lolich on 4-inch in diameter brushed steel oval at the top and a 4 ½-by-3 ¾-inch nameplate at the bottom that notes “1968 World Series Hero, Mickey Lolich, Detroit Tigers (3-0), Presented by the Chicago Baseball Writers, Jan. 12, 1969.” A wooden base is 10 inches across and 4 inches deep; the trophy reveals a bit of dust after a half century and not much else by way of any difficulties.
