This is an extraordinary opportunity to pick up one of the great oversized Topps basketball issues of the vintage era, the quirky and colorful 1970 issue, in a truly sensational and nearly unimprovable Near-Mint to Mint condition, with the key single, Pete Maravich's RC, arriving in a PSA 6 holder. It is easily the nicest, most attractive example of this classic issue that we have ever handled, attested to by the fact that fully 77 percent of the set is deemed Near-Mint to Mint or better, a number that includes 93 cards so assessed by PSA. The remaining 23 percent or so is deemed Near-Mint, with just a couple of cards below. Roughly ½ of the raw cards in the Near-Mint category are actually found with the ½-point Plus notation. As noted in the listing below, the Tier One Hall of Famers and major stars of the era conform to the lofty condition range, a startling assessment for the larger-size issue that typically is found with condition concerns because of the difficulties in storing and handling the bigger cards; in addition to the regular set, the difficult variation of the Series Two Checklist is included, though oddly, it is mislabeled in a PSA 8 holder. The variation is in a matching Near-Mint to Mint condition, but is not slabbed. The 2 ½-by-4 11/16-inch cards startle with blazing, vivid background colors and exceptional gloss, with uncommonly crisp white backs and blazing orange spot color.
