Offered is a pristine unopened wax box from the fabled 1972 Topps Baseball issue, the charming classic from almost 50 years ago that parlayed vivid colors and sharp photography and the colorful and quirky “psychedelic” design into one of the most memorable sets of the decade. Within this coveted box of 24 packs (10 cards per pack) could be Mint cards from Hall of Famers Willie Mays, Frank Robinson, Carl Yastrzemski, Bob Gibson, Harmon Killebrew and Joe Morgan, plus the most significant Rookie card in the set, fellow HOFer Carlton Fisk. The First Series also could yield In-Action cards from Mays and Yastrzemski, or cards from the popular “League Leaders” subset that had been a company staple for more than a decade, or maybe the No. 1 card in the issue, the Pirates Team card that honored the club’s World Series title the previous fall. The box has been authenticated and shrink-wrapped by Steve Hart of Baseball Card Exchange.
