The legendary “G.H. Ruth” signature on this March 5, 1935, Chemical Bank check is as striking and elegant as the ones with the more familiar “Babe,” earning a BGS blessing. This is a simply spectacular artifact from the most revered player in Major League Baseball history, bolstered by the inclusion of a matching autograph from his daughter, Julia Ruth, who’s better known to several generations of collectors as Julia Ruth Stevens. For more than seven decades, she championed the cause of promoting and protecting the larger-than-life legacy of her father, participating in the licensing process for his name and image and appearing at countless events and promotions on her father’s behalf. The check arrives slabbed and authenticated by BAS, who graded the signature a "9".
