Presented is a striking array of pristine slabbed cards from the 1960 Topps Baseball issue and an even larger second group of raw cards in essentially the same exemplary condition. The slabbed group is headlined by a BVG 8.5 Ernie Banks and nearly a dozen PSA 8 blazers, and fully 80 percent of the group reaching PSA 7 or better status. The lineup includes Hall of Famers Willie Mays, Whitey Ford, Al Kaline, Eddie Mathews (2), Robin Roberts, Casey Stengel, Al Lopez, plus a host of specials, including a spectacular pair of World Series subset cards in PSA 8 holders, a half dozen cards from the Rookie Stars subset in Series Two (including a PSA 6 Carl Yastrzemski Rookie) and PSA 8 and 7 examples of the Yankees Team card, along with the Maris All-Star card from the difficult high series. With that kind of curriculum vitae, it’s not surprising that the entire accumulation tops the $1,000 mark in SMR value. Toss in another 200 cards in very nearly the same condition range of largely Near-Mint or better and you have the makings of an incredible launch on a high-grade 1960 set, or even to upgrade even the nicest existing set. The slabbed card breakdown (cards for HOFers and stars are the regular-issue unless noted, and slabs are all PSA unless noted): Near-Mint to Mint-Plus – No. 10 Ernie Banks – BVG 8.5; PSA 8 (11) – No. 50 Kaline o/c, 163 (pd), 270, 332 Yankees Team, 386 World Series, 387 World Series, 465 Yankees Coaches, 478 and 544; PSA 7 (32) – No. 11, 32, 40, 45, 68, 70, 75, 97, 103, 115 Fork & Knuckler, 120 Rookie, 122 Rookie, 124 Rookie, 125 Rookie, 126 Rookie, 156, 164 Reds Team, 165, 166, 167, 173 Martin, 186, 187, 188 Williams, 195, 222 Lopez, 227 Stengel, 328, 332 Yankees Team, 420 Mathews, 429 AL Kings and 437; PSA 6.5 – No. 377 Maris; PSA 6 (8) – No. 148 Yastrzemski Rookie, 230 Mound Magicians, 241, 262, 264 Roberts, 420 Mathews and 565 Maris All-Star; Excellent-Plus – No. 200 Mays – BVG 5.5; and PSA 3 – No. 353. As noted above, the raw group (200) is in largely the same condition range, essentially Near-Mint or better, with perhaps three or four dozen cards falling below the Near-Mint or better range. It includes literally dozens of stars and minor stars from Series One through Six, along with nearly two dozen cards from the Series Two Rookie Stars subset, 10 Managers cards and four (4) Coaches.
