This is a special opportunity to pick up high-grade specimens of many of the most important Hall of Famers of the era, a massive group that highlights the passing of the torch from the great stars of the 1970’s to the arrival of Larry Bird and Magic Johnson on the NBA scene that would revitalize the game for generations. The hoard includes groups from four different years, concluding with the unique tri-cards from 1980-81 that featured detachable (don’t you dare) cards that often mixed many of the key Hall of Famers in a host of different combinations. That unusual situation creates a situation where a staggering number of the overall grouping features at least one Hall of Famer, which mixed with the generous helping of same from 1977-80 makes for a special lot with a simply huge percentage of Hall of Famers and a significant upside potential. In all instances where players are listed, a single card is presumed, with instances of multiples noted in parenthesis.
1977-78 Topps (340, Mostly Excellent to Ex-Mt): No. 1 Abdul-Jabbar, 56 Dantley (4), 100 Erving, and 110 Parish (3).
1978-79 Topps (580, Mostly Ex-Mt): No. 1 Walton (3), 10 Davis (3), 75 King (2) 78 Dennis Johnson (3), 110 Abdul-Jabbar (6), and 130 Erving (8).
1979-80 Topps (240, Most Ex-Mt to Nr-Mt): No. 10 Abdul-Jabbar and 20 Erving (3).
1980-81 Topps (250, Mostly Ex-Mt to Nr-Mt): (numbers not listed because of the Tri-Card format) May/Bird/Sikma (3), Long/Magic/Boone (4), Marques Johnson/Bird/Sikma (2), and Brown/Bird/Brewer (3).
