One of the great minor-league issues of the golden era of the 1950’s is offered here in superb condition, generally Excellent to Mint-plus, a representation of nine players from the International League’s Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Athletics. Adding to the allure, every player in the unique issue (standard size 2 ½-by-3 ½ inch cards in a thin cardboard stock) is tied with major league credentials, though in those days that could often mean players on the way up or occasionally headed in the other direction. That nicely describes our lineup, which includes popular and prominent major leaguers Luke Easter, Phil Cavaretta, Ken Johnson and Rip Coleman, among others.
