This is an absolutely masterful rendition of Joe DiMaggio during his hitting streak. This spectacular 24-by-30-inch rendition of DiMaggio is done in acrylic by one of the masters of the form, Darryl Vlasak. Few artists are capable of capturing the purest essence of many of the greatest players from many eras, with his remarkable talent for recreating the flavor and feel of the old ballparks a marvelous complement to the ultra-realistic portrayal of great player as does Vlasak. The artist, whose work has appeared in numerous magazines and books over the last 20 years, including a vast inventory of covers for Sports Collectors Digest, has signed his masterpiece in his elegant fashion on the lower-right corner of the painting. The lot represents a unique opportunity to own original artwork that so perfectly presents one of the great players who interrupted his Hall of Fame career to serve his country with distinction in World War II.
