This is a really great partial set of a particularly condition-sensitive 1960’s Topps issue, the wood-grained background cards from 1966 that nearly mimicked the TV set style of 1955 Bowman Baseball, and prompt the same kind of concerns about subtle nicks and chipping at the corners. This array constitutes roughly 80 percent of a complete set, and provides a great opportunity to upgrade an existing set or to launch on a high-grade new one. The grouping is mostly Excellent to Mint, with perhaps a dozen or so reaching Near-Mint status and a half dozen below. Two of the keys have been third-party slabbed and authenticated: Namath (PSA 4) and the Series II Checklist (PSA 5). It’s a really nice, consistent grouping with decent centering and good gloss, along with minimal chipping of the sensitive wood-grain borders. Near-Mint (13) – No. 13, 14, 20, 22, 25, 36, 40, 49, 73, 75 Taylor, 93, 99 and 105; Ex-Mt (82) – No. 1, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11, 16, 17, 18, 19, 28, 29, 30, 31, 34, 37. 38, 39 Haynes, 41, 42, 43, 44, 46, 47, 51, 52, 54, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 64 Bell, 65, 66, 69, 70, 71, 72, 74, 76, 77, 80, 81, 82, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87, 88, 89, 90, 91, 94, 97, 98, 100, 102, 103, 106, 107, 111, 112, 113, 114, 116, 117, 118, 119 Alworth, 120, 121, 122, 123, 124, 125 Hadl, 126, 127, 129 and 131; Excellent (3) – No. 7, 78 and 110; Very Good to Excellent – No. 92; Very Good – No. 95 Maynard.
