This is an extraordinary example of the important 1968 Topps Football issue, presented here in basically Near-Mint condition, with perhaps a couple of dozen even jumping up to Nr-Mt to Mt. It’s simply a blazer, with the Hall of Famers and stars falling within the same broader condition range as the rest of the gang. This is a very difficult and popular 1960’s issue, with generally decent centering; given the imposing overall grade, there might be about three dozen cards that might prompt an upgrade or the temptation would be to call this set “unimprovable.” The No. 127 Butkus is an obvious outlier, in Poor condition with the upper right corner of the card torn away, perhaps, if we may wax to the metaphorical, the stutter that highlights the eloquence.
