This lot represents a chance to pick up seven high-grade complete Topps football sets from the 1980’s, a blazing seven-year run of basically Near-Mint to Near-Mint to Mint cards, with no discernible difference in condition between the Hall of Famers and keys and the rest of the broader range. The temptation would be to describe it as uniform Near-Mint to Mint sets, but there are a few Near-Mint cards; for most of the years the coveted “vending bend” is evident, more proof of largely uncirculated and essentially as-issued cards, with blazing vivid colors and good gloss. The breakdown: 1980 (528), with No. 160 Payton and 225 Simms both Near-Mint, and outlier No. 528 – Very Good; 1981 (528), with No. 216 Montana (o/c) and No. 400 Payton both Near-Mint; 1982 (528), with Near-Mint to Mint No. 488 Montana; 1983 through 1986, 396 cards each year and “vending bend” evident with each set; in 1984 the No. 63 Elway and No. 123 Marino rookies are Near-Mint to Mint and in 1986 the Rice rookie is Near-Mint.
