Post Cereal produced an impressive number of baseball and football card issues in the early 1960’s, providing youngsters across the nation the chance to pester their moms into buying specific boxes of breakfast cereals that featured the sports heroes of the day. In 1962, Post issued a 200-card set of the NFL stars, and this lot represents roughly half of the completed set, with about two dozen duplicates included in the mix. As was the story of the Post Cereal issues, relying on the scissoring skills of the youth of America was unavoidable, and this particular offering represents a fairly decent cutting effort within the context of the times. The broad condition range is generally Very Good to Excellent, with some above and below, and probably a whisper better than this issue is typically found in older collections. The lot represents just over half of the complete set (109/200), with an additional group of about two dozen duplicates included; the missing numbers and duplicated cards are listed at the end of this description. Perhaps a dozen or so cards have some small extraneous pen marks on the reverse, which is noted in the breakdown of some of the key cards below with the abbreviation (WOB).
