Presented here is a simply spectacular array of 1962 Topps Baseball cards, including a dozen Hall of Famers, in a condition essentially unimprovable, Near-Mint and better. That’s high praise indeed for an issue that up to that time was the most condition sensitive that Topps had ever produced, with the black borders of 1971 almost a decade away. The wood-grain full-bleed borders in 1962 would tend to show even the slightest dings and nicks, making this blazing array of Near-Mint and better cards all the more impressive. This lot includes 19 cards that have been slabbed and graded, with the verdict neatly conforming to the Near-Mint or better assessment. The lineup of the 139-card group includes a dozen Hall of Famers and a boatload of the specials that were another highlight of the iconic 1962 issue, most notably the Series II Babe Ruth subset, a number of difficult Team cards and the All-Star subsets for both American and National Leagues. There are also 17 cards from the difficult high-number series, one of the toughest of the decade for Topps. This is an array that could serve handsomely as a launch on a dazzling, high-grade set or to upgrade almost any set even in the higher range. The cards are nothing short of superb, with startling, vivid colors, sharp photo registration and great gloss. In short, magical specimens of one of the toughest Topps vintage issues.
