Presented here is a handsome array of 1962 Topps Baseball cards, including several Hall of Famers, in a striking Ex to Ex-Plus condition, headlined by the key card in the issue, the No. 200 Mantle, found here in a PSA 5 holder. All this from an issue that up to that time was the most condition sensitive that Topps had ever produced, with the black borders of 1971 almost a decade away. The wood-grain full-bleed borders in 1962 would tend to show even the slightest dings and nicks, making this grouping of Excellent and better cards all the more impressive. Along with aforementioned PSA 5 Mickey Mantle, easily the most coveted card in the set, this lot includes several other Hall of Famers and many of the specials that were another highlight of the iconic 1962 issue, most notably the League Leaders, several Team and World Series cards and the Baseball Thrills subset, along with the charming “Combo” cards that were a Topps mainstay for finding ways to produce additional pasteboards of some of the biggest stars in the game. There are also more than a dozen cards from the difficult high-number series, one of the toughest of the decade for Topps. At a total of 170 cards, this is an array that could serve handsomely as a launch on a complete set or to fill out an existing set. The cards are remarkably uniform and consistent, with startling, vivid colors, sharp photo registration and great gloss.
