This is a really nice example of a complete set of perhaps Topps’ most difficult issue ever produced in terms of condition-sensitive borders, the jet black background that brutally reveals even the slightest dings and nicks. This example is a strong Excellent to Ex-Mt with some below, with the emphasis probably Excellent and perhaps a couple dozen cards challenging Near-Mint status, and a handsome overall, consistent presentation that marks this as a particularly intriguing lot. There may be perhaps four dozen cards that are VG-Ex and about half that number Very Good, relatively small numbers for such a condition-sensitive issue. The overall condition actually improves a bit from the Fourth Series on, with many of the Near-Mint examples turning up at that point and the emphasis probably closer to Ex-Mt.
