This is a superb pair of the elegant albums produced by the American Caramel Co. to display the complete sets of the fabled 1922 E120 American Caramel cards, with National League and American League albums, 12 pages in each with individual teams listed atop the inside eight pages. The albums, produced on a black cardboard stock that is instantly recognizable for its use in photographic displays, measure 11 ¼-by-11 ¾ inches, with gold leaf printing on the covers that note “Stars of Baseball Album,” with American and National League noted below, along with “Set of 120 Leading Players, 15 in Each of the 8 Teams.” The American Caramel Company of Lancaster and York, Pa., notation is below that, along with copyright and patent information. The pages have the team name and manager at the top, with individual players listed for each of the 15 boxes. The albums originally came with the antiquated photo elbows that held pictures in place without adhesive; most of those are missing from the albums. Both albums present in close to Excellent condition, though some slight corner wear might compel a technical VG-Ex designation. Simply a wonderful artifact from one of the most popular baseball issues of the era.
