This is an impressive grouping of five Topps baseball partial sets from the 1970’s, all in very nice condition and including many Hall of Famers, stars and specials. Included in the lot are partials from 1972, 1973, 1975, 1976 and 1977. The 1972 Baseball section provides a great start on what was Topps’ largest issue to that date, 787 cards in one of the most unique designs ever produced by the Boys from Brooklyn. Here are 473 cards – about 60 percent of a complete set – in a handsome Excellent to Near-Mint condition, with the Hall of Famers and stars conforming to the broader condition range. The Hall of Fame lineup includes Fisk, Yastrzemski, Killebrew, Perez, Gibson, Morgan, Cepeda, Fingers, Palmer, Aparicio, Weaver, Anderson, Carlton, Munson and Ted Williams; there are also 13 Team cards, six Checklists and a boatload of the In Action and Boyhood subsets, among others. The 1973 group numbers 413, again with HOFers and stars conforming to the broader condition range, which in this case is Excellent to Near-Mint. The Hall of Fame lineup includes Brock, Fingers, Aaron, Weaver, Munson, Palmer, Killebrew, Williams, Jenkins, Gibson, Fisk, Morgan, Yastrzemski, Jackson, Perez, Anderson and Carlton; there are also 10 Playoff or World Series subset cards, 10 Teams, two Checklists and four League Leaders. For the final three partials the condition notches up a bit to Ex-Mt to Near-Mint, with some below but the emphasis to the upper end of the scale. The 1975 offering features 600 of the total 660 cards in the set, with great color and gloss; among the missing in this array are Ryan, Rose, Aaron, Carter, Brett and Yount. The 1976 entry is close to complete at 594/660, with 42 of the 44 Traded cards included in the mix; the missing cards include Brett, Eckersley, Rose, Bench, Ryan and Aaron. The 1977 issue is similarly close at 593/660, boasting a No. 473 Dawson Rookie (Very Good), and Schmidt, Seaver, Munson, Fidrych, Rose, Murphy and Ryan among the missing.
