Offered here is an outstanding example of one of the truly iconic minor-league baseball cards, the Chuck Connors card from the colorful 1952 Mother’s Cookies issue, the most expensive card in the issue by a wide margin and found here in a handsome PSA 5 holder. Connors traded in his first baseman’s mitt for a souped-up Winchester rifle, winding up on card No. 4 of the 1952 Mother’s Cookies issue, arguably the most important minor-league issue extant and distributed in limited quantities primarily on the West Coast. The unique 2 13/16-by-3 1/2-inch cards portray Pacific Coast League Players and were issued with packages of cookies, with a total of 64 comprising a complete set in 1952 and 63 the next – and final – year of distribution. The cards, with elegant pastel backgrounds in several colors and full-bleed borders that make them particularly condition sensitive, also have rounded corners and a very imposing and distinctive presentation.
