Offered is a wonderful example of one of the key cards from the fabled career of Fred Merkle, a standout major leaguer for 16 seasons at the turn of the century who deserves to be remembered for much more than a legendary “boner.” This is Merkle’s card from the 1914 Cracker Jack issue, the more difficult of the two Cracker Jack sets issued from 1914-15. This is a particularly attractive specimen, nicely presented in a PSA 2.5 holder, with bold, vivid red background handsomely displayed on a well-centered card.
