When you combine the modern baseball card innovation of implanting tiny pieces of fabric or sections from a baseball bat inside of a baseball card with the most famous Major League Baseball franchise in history you end up with this fascinating lot that harkens back to several generations of Yankees history. From Charley Keller and Joe Pepitone to Reggie, Jason Giambi and Brett Gardner, this grouping highlights many of the great players from several eras with commemorative insert cards featuring either a jersey fragment or a slice from some of their favorite lumber. As might be expected, highly coveted modern inserts like these are routinely afforded great care, and all of the cards in this lot are essentially Near-Mint to Mint or better. And speaking of lumber, we’ll start off with an impressive run of game-used bat cards from 2000 Upper Deck, a Legendary Lumber insert that includes attractive cards from nine players: Boyer, Chambliss, Dent, Houk, Keller, Lopez, Nettles, Pepitone and Randolph.
