Presented here is an attractive 1972 Topps Baseball complete set, the largest the company produced in the era and a remarkably popular and quirky offering that has delighted and challenged collectors for more than four decades. The offered set is a very uniform and consistent Excellent to Mint to Near-Mint condition, with the emphasis to the upper end of the range and with perhaps 150 or so cards falling to Excellent or below and with the stars and specials matching the broader condition range. This issue features centering that might be described as fairly typical for the set, with perhaps 15 percent or so having the kind of centering that might prompt an upgrade, though not all of those would be severe enough to necessarily dictate a formal off-center designation. There are eight extra cards included of an assortment of numbers where the collector was upgrading for any number of reasons. Given the combination of the largest Topps offering to that date and an eye-catching psychedelic design, the issue remains one of the company’s most eagerly collected from the era.
