Here are four complete Topps baseball sets from near the end of the company’s 25-year monopoly in the card business, sets that look for all the world just as they must have when they rolled off the printing presses four decades ago. The description is virtually identical for all four, though a fervid imagination might permit you to find 1977 as a whisper below the others; the broad evaluation is Near-Mint to Mint for 1976, 1978 and 1979, and Near-Mint or better for 1977, with a few below. In short, absolute blazers, with wonderful color and gloss, outstanding photo registration and super-clean backs, with no discernible difference between the Tier One Hall of Famers and lowliest of commons. The 1976 offering is complete at 660 cards, with another 44 of the Traded companions at the end; 1977 is complete at 660 cards and the final two years are complete at 726. This is a great opportunity to pick up four important Topps baseball issues from their final decade alone in the business; after that, things are about to get crazy.
