Arguably one of the greatest Topps football issues from its chaotic early years publishing cards for the gridiron, the 1960 Topps Football set is a marvel with its simple design and blazing sharp photography. This particular offering presents all of those attributes to spectacular effect with a startling high-grade example that combines that remarkable photography with superb gloss and super-clean cards backs. Difficult to imagine finding this classic set in better shape than this basically Ex-Mt to Near-Mint blazer. The set grades out to 68 percent Near-Mint (including many of the key Hall of Famers), 24 percent Ex-Mt and a mere 8 percent Excellent. Here’s a good barometer of a 1960 set that received gentle handling over six decades: the Football Funnies feature that appears on the back of the card and invited youngsters to scratch away with a coin to reveal pithy commentary that wasn't really all that funny. In this spectacular example, only three cards have had their Football Funnies panel duly molested in any fashion. Simply put, this is one of the nicest 1960 Topps Football sets we've seen in awhile.
