Presented here is an old-fashioned type auction lot featuring hundreds of vintage mostly Topps, Post and Philly Gum football cards from the 1950s and 1960s, including nearly 100 Hall of Famers and a boatload of stars and specials, all neatly embedded in an enormous grouping that demands a good deal of close examination to secure maximum value. There is a handsome group (155) of nice condition 1959 Topps, plus large arrays from 1961 Topps and the Philadelphia Gum run from 1964-67. Here’s a chronological breakdown: 1955 Topps All American (17) – mostly Very Good to Excellent, with some below; 1959 Topps (155) – some duplication, mostly Excellent to Ex-Mt, with some below and more than two dozen Hall of Famers, including Moore (2), Ane (2), Lary (2), Parker, Schmidt, Nomellini, Grier, Layne, Matson, Berry, St. Clair, Stautner and Ringo; 1960 Fleer (8); 1961 Fleer (9); 1961 Topps (84) – really nice Ex-Mt to Near-Mint group, with some below, including Brodie, Brown, Robustelli, Jones, Schmidt, Nomellini, Johnson, McCormack, Lowe and Kemp (VG); 1962 Post Cereal (143) – decently cut cards, mostly Excellent to Ex-Mt with some below, including Moore, Mitchell, Lary, McDonald (2), Tarkenton, George, Parker (2), Berry, Robustelli, Ringo, Grier and Lilly (poorly cut); 1964 Philadelphia Gum (75) – mostly Excellent to Ex-Mt with some below, including Tittle, Adderly, Davis, Gregg, Jordan, Kramer, Ringo, Brown, Parker and Mackey; 1965 Philadelphia Gum (49) – mostly Excellent to Ex-Mt with some below, including Lilly, Huff and McDonald; 1966 Philadelphia Gum (53) – mostly Excellent to Ex-Mt with some below; 1967 Philadelphia Gum (98) – mostly Excellent to Ex-Mt with some above and below, including Tingelhoff, McDonald, Ditkas, Brown and Jordan; Group of (150) mostly Topps from 1958-70, with varying grades but most Excellent or better, including Smith, Page, Mackey, Nitschke, Ringo, Parker, McElhenny and Tingelhoff; 1986 Topps cards of Montana, Payton and Dickerson; 1986 Dairy Pak Cartons set (24), Crane Discs (24) and an embroidered Super Bowl patch.
