This lot represents a complete set of one of the more well-known Topps non-mainstream issues from the mid-1960’s, the Topps Giants that marked the first time the venerable Brooklyn-based company issued postcard-sized cards. The 3 1/8-by-5 ¼-inch cards showcased most of the great stars of the period in oversized color photographs that probably grew in popularity with the emergence of the hobby more than a decade later. This offering is in great condition, almost equally divided between Ex-Mt and Near-Mint and with a single card reaching Excellent status. For a number of years in the earliest days of the organized hobby, the sets were used by dealers as a bonus premium accompanying large orders of vintage Topps. Here’s the breakdown: Near-Mint (33) – No. 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 Bunning o/c, 11 Clemente, 12 Kaline, 13 Fox, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 o/c, 19 o/c, 21 o/c, 22, 23 o/c, 26 Torre, 27, 30, 31, 32, 34, 38 Killebrew, 39 Aparicio, 40, 43, 48 Yastrzemski, 49 Aaron o/c, 55 Cepeda and 56; Ex-Mt (26) – No. 1, 3 Koufax, 7 Ford, 20, 24, 25 Mantle, 28, 29 Frank Robinson, 33, 35, 36, 37 Marichal, 41 Gibson o/c, 42, 44 o/c, 45 o/c, 46, 47, 50 Brooks Robinson, 51 Mays o/c, 52 Williams, 53, 54, 57 o/c, 58 Santo and 60 o/c; Excellent – No. 59.
