A nifty roster of big-name Hall of Famers headlines this old-time auction lot that combines single cards of legendary Hall of Famers and stars and a half dozen 1980s factory baseball sets and a similar number of full wax boxes from the same period. With literally thousands of cards at stakes, it’s a group that begs for a bit of close examination. Just to get the process underway, we'll start with a couple of prominent football singles from HOF quarterbacks Joe Montana and Brett Favre. A 1981 Topps Montana No. 216 Rookie card is Near-Mint; a 1991 Wild Card No. 119 Favre is in similarly pristine condition. The remainder of the key singles are vintage Topps baseball, starting with a 1959 Topps Henry Aaron No. 380 that presents a sparkling Near-Mint but reveals evidence of trim. Two other Aaron cards are included: 1966 Topps No. 300 – Very Good to Excellent and 1976 Topps Record Breaker No. 1 – Excellent. A pair of Rookie cards from another Milwaukee legend, Robin Yount, also command attention. The 1975 Topps No. 223 regular-size Yount is VG-Ex and the Mini version is Ex-Mt. Bob Uecker, no doubt delighted to be seated in this particular front row, comes in with an Ex-Mt example of his second-year 1963 Topps No. 126; Carl Yastrzemski rounds out the single-card lineup with his 1973 Topps No. 280 in Ex condition. Baseball complete sets include (Near-Mint or better condition): 1985 Topps (792), 1988 Topps (792), 1989 Donruss factory set (660), 1989 Fleer factory set (660), 1989 Score factory set (716) and an 800-count box of mostly 1989 Topps. The wax box lineup (all baseball except where noted): 1988 Topps Wax (36 packs), 1988 Donruss Wax (36), three (3) 1989 Topps Wax boxes (one full with 36 packs, a second with 35 and a final one with 28), 1990 Score Wax (36) and 1990 Fleer Football Wax (36). A final element of the lot is a large box of approximately 1,350 cards from primarily baseball and football, and includes HOFers and stars from issues like 1981 Topps Baseball and Football, 1986, 1987 and 1989 Topps baseball, 1987 Donruss Baseball, 1988 Fleer Baseball and 1990 Score Baseball, plus a 1983 Brewers Police set and a 7-by-10-inch Brewers plaque from the same year.
