Mahay pitched a scoreless 1 2/3 innings but it was not enough as his Royals fell to the Cleveland Indians on April 15, 2009. Mahay, as did all of the other players wore commemorative "42" jerseys to honor Jackie Robinson as the players do yearly. Mahay signed the back of the jersey with a silver sharpie. This jersey has two patches on the sleeves - one is a 40th Anniversary Kansas City Royals patch on the right and the other is the Royals patch on the left. This jersey has been authenticated by MLB with hologram LH166326 affixed below the main tagging.
