In 1964 the Beatles took America by storm by putting a literal sense to the “British Invasion” mantra, and the result – aside from an iconic appearance on the legendary Ed Sullivan Show – was that most American of cultural signposts, the trading card. Topps jumped on the Beatles’ bandwagon with a handful of card productions, and two of the most prominent are nicely represented here. This lot features a very nice group of nearly three dozen cards from the Beatles Color series that year, along with another 75 cards from the three black-and-white series. All three groups are broadly Excellent to Ex-Mt, with the emphasis to the upper end of the spectrum and a handful of cards reaching Near-Mint status. The Color (32) group: No. 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 20, 23, 25, 26, 28, 29, 31, 36, 40, 41, 43, 44, 46, 47, 48, 50, 52, 54, 56, 57, 58, 59, 61, 62 and 64; Black-and-White First Series (14): No. 5, 6, 12, 18, 19, 26, 29, 33, 39, 40, 45, 55, 56 and 59; Black-and-White Second Series (28): No. 61, 68, 71, 74, 76, 79, 83, 84, 87, 89, 90, 91, 94, 97, 100, 101, 103, 104, 106, 107, 108, 109, 110, 111, 112, 114 and 115; Black-and-White Third Series (33): No. 116, 118, 119, 120, 122, 123, 124, 125, 127, 128, 129, 131, 132, 133, 134, 137, 139, 141, 142, 143, 144, 146, 148, 152, 153, 154, 158, 159, 160, 161, 162, 163 and 164.
