If you've been trying to complete a signed 1960 Topps set, this is one you've probably been searching for. Offered is a 1960 Topps signed by Jim Umbricht on his "1960 Rookie Star" card. Diagnosed with malignant melanoma in his right leg in March 1963, his comeback to baseball following surgery made national headlines and encouraged research on the disease. He spent the 1963 season as a relief pitcher, sometimes in excruciating pain. Ulbricht's health deteriorated soon afterwards and he died in April of 1964 at age 33. Signed in blue ballpoint pen, this one is slabbed and authenticated by BAS.
