Here’s an imposing companion piece to a similar lot with a Detroit Tigers poster from the same year, this time celebrating the Depression Era Cubs who nailed down a rare National League Pennant that year en route to a World Series loss to the Tigers. This impressive 23-by-25-inch cardboard poster pictures legendary Cubbies Gabby Hartnett, Lon Warneke and Chuck Klein, plus teammates Root, Galan, Lee, Cavaretta and Hack, with Manager Charlie Grimm at the center and surrounded by his charges. The poster displays nicely and a bit better than its Tigers counterpart – seemingly Very Good - but probably ends with a Good technical description because of creasing and some paper loss at the corners.
